Soetwater Tidal Pool: Nature’s Oasis in Kommetjie

Embark on a scenic one-hour drive from Cape Town to discover the untouched beauty of Soetwater Tidal Pool, also known as the Infinity Pool, nestled within the rustic Soetwater Recreational Area in Kommetjie on the South Peninsula.

A Conservancy of Biodiversity

This strip of the wild coast, shadowed by the iconic Slangkop Lighthouse at the most-southwestern tip of the peninsula, was declared a conservancy in 2009. Its proclamation was a recognition of the area’s rich biodiversity, featuring a dense kelp bed just offshore, contributing to the giant kelp forests that grace our shoreline.

Immersed in Unspoiled Beauty

Soetwater Tidal Pool stands as a testament to unspoiled surroundings, where rocky shorelines meet kelp-strewn white beaches. The pool, aptly named the Infinity Pool, invites visitors to enjoy a refreshing dip in a natural setting. The rugged beauty of the area provides opportunities for beachcombing, rockpooling, and birdwatching, including the chance to spot endangered black oystercatchers.

Facilities Amidst Nature’s Canvas

Adjacent to a braai area and picnic site, the tidal pool offers not only a serene escape but also a family-friendly environment. The pool features a separate kiddies section, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for little ones. The entrance fee, R18 for adults and R7 for children, contributes to the preservation of this natural oasis. Please note that day visitor numbers are limited to 250, and alcohol is not permitted.
